Evie Jorgens, 2024-25 Intern

At the beginning of internship, I had a huge fear of public speaking and didn’t feel very confident leading  groups of any size. And although my relational health had improved tremendously through Support Programs, I still had a lot to learn about how to live healthy in community and leadership. I didn’t know that leading in health meant taking care of yourself and allowing others to support you.

In the internship, I was looking for a next step after Support Programs and to learn some leadership skills for ministry. I also wanted to learn more about sexual and relational health so I could share with others and continue to walk in health. And lastly, I wanted to give back to Mid-Valley Fellowship by serving and better equipping myself to aid their mission.

I have been actively learning how to rest in the midst of this really busy season. I have learned to rest emotionally and spiritually even when I have commitments that require my physical service. I also have had various opportunities to speak in front of large and small groups and have been gaining confidence in my speaking abilities. Mid-Valley Fellowship has structured time for their volunteer leaders to support each other as we serve, and this has been a great lesson in how leaders need community to be healthy.

I have been offered different serving positions at my church including the youth group. I have been thinking of taking the teachings and values of Mid-Valley Fellowship into youth ministry. I would love to bring my story and God’s truth to the youth, who are being so heavily influenced by the world right now regarding their sexual identity and struggles.
