Simone Wilson, 2024-25 Intern

Before I started the internship, I had just completed two years of the Clean Heart for Women program with Mid-Valley Fellowship. It was probably the most free and healthy I had felt emotionally, spiritually, and relationally in my life up to that point. During those years, God used the program to help me grow in understanding my own worth, identifying my emotions, and navigating various relationships in my life.

As I got to know other individuals who were walking through programs at the same time, I noticed many of our testimonies stemmed from issues that developed in childhood. At the time, I was working in full time ministry for adolescents, and I sensed an urgency to be more knowledgeable in topics around sexual wholeness. My desire was to help adolescents in their current reality in hopes that one day they would be less likely to need resources like MVF when they got older. My interest in becoming an intern was to gain tools to help others as well as continue my own personal healing journey.

While my main focus was to gain tools to help others, God had other plans for me. I didn’t expect the material I was learning throughout the months to minister to me in real time and be tools that I could use in my own various seasons of “eremos” or “wilderness.” The internship opened my eyes to the ongoing nature of healing and living in a place of health. I believe the awareness and pursuit of this reality will be the most valuable thing I bring into any ministry context in the future. My hope is that I am better equipped to be able to offer hope and healing to those around me in whatever my next endeavor is.
