About the Surrender Service
Throughout our walk with the Lord, there are key times when He invites us to give up burdens that have been weighing us down. These can be old lies, negative identities, idols, unhealthy relationships, or many other things. A Surrender Service is an amazing time to do some house cleaning, either literally or symbolically. At the service, each person has the opportunity to bring an item that represents one of those burdens. They will share about the item they are surrendering, the burden it represents, and how surrendering it will bring freedom in their life. Then their brothers and sisters come and pray for God’s movement in that act of surrender. There is amazing joy at obeying God in the loving presence of others. Examples of items surrendered include mementos of unhealthy relationships, alcohol, items representing an old identity or way of living, and anything else representing a burden. Items will not be returned. Prayerfully consider how you will participate in this evening. |
