John Rist 2021-22 Intern
When I began the Erēmos Internship, I was experiencing increased responsibilities in ministry leadership (outside of MVF), and I questioned whether I had the time available that it would take for the internship. After much prayer and consulting with others, I was clearly led by the Lord into the internship program. I knew He needed to do a deeper work in my character before the spiritual gifts He was seeking to develop in me could be released in a greater way.
This character work has proven, so far, to be particularly in the realm of greater honesty and clarity in discerning the thoughts and emotions that motivate my actions. This has been a humbling experience, but I see how God is using it for His healing in me. As I practice being honest about my heart motives, the drive to be focused on my outward accomplishments decreases. The internship has been challenging but not burdensome as I feared. I continue to be impressed and impacted by the wide variety of topics, exercises, and speakers with powerful life stories that are invited to share. It truly is a precious gift from the Lord at this time in my life. |
